The 2010 CCSAW Championship event will be held at the Northern Lights Casino Walker, MN  September 23-26.  Returning to defend his title will be last years winner Dayton Scoggins an accomplished carver from Mississippi.   His winning piece is displayed below as well as all the masterpieces carvings from last year.  Coming back this year as well all the way from Japan a spectacular carver and second place finisher Hayashi Takao.  The rest of the carvers are to be determined through our qualifying competitions held throughout the summer.  You can keep up with the results on the Competition Results page.

This years Competitions requires the carvers to carve a masterpiece carving out of a log that is eight feet tall and of a diameter of twenty-eight inches or greater.  They are given around twenty hours to carve on their log and when time is up they are judge by a five person panel with a list of criteria.   There are also 1-2 hour carvings that are called quick carves.  The competitors complete one quick carve a day for addition chances to win money and show off their skill.  Places for quick carves are based on how much the carvings bring at auction.  For more information on the event check out our you tube video of our 2007 event.  Besides the competition there will be many other guest carvers creating quick carves,  other art forms being displayed and demonstrated, as well as good food and music.  Please come and enjoy!
